Jesse Hall wins the 2020 CVSJA $5,000 Rebecca Lipscombe Memorial Scholarship

Updated: Jan 28, 2021

Manakin Sabot, VA January 27, 2020 - The Central Virginia S

how Jumping Association is proud to announce Jesse Hall of Manakin Sabot is the 2020 winner of the $5,000 Rebecca Lipscombe Memorial Scholarship.

This scholarship was started in 1996 by Gail Thompson and Polly Lipscombe to honor the memory of Rebecca Lipscombe, a special equestrian that embodied the true meaning of horsemanship and sportsmanship. As a young teenager, Rebecca was a shining light to all who knew her. She loved and worked tirelessly to care for the horses and learn all aspects of equestrian sport. In 2018 CVSJA decided to continue this scholarship in her name to a deserving junior member.

Jesse Hall has been a member of CVSJA since 2013 and is currently a sophomore at James Madison University. She is an alumnus of and graduated with honors from the Steward School. Jesse has contributed countless volunteer hours, painting jumps and counting proof of purchase seals that help raise money for the organization. During our shows, she helps set jumps and manage the in-gate. Jesse also chips in with administrative tasks for the board of directors and participates in Junior Comm

ittee activities.

Equally impressive, Jesse works long days caring for horses as well. On workdays, she arrives at her barn at 5:30am, cleans stalls for seventeen horses, feeds, throws hay and water to all and brings them in from the field. This is then followed by riding one, two, or more horses either at home or at one of our shows. Then at 4:00 she is back at the barn, feeding, checking water tubs in fields, throwing hay and turning all horses out for the evening. -- all the while keeping a close eye out for any health or injury issues the horses may display. She does this with love and smile on her face four days a week.

Jesse Hall is a true representation of our organization, our values, our standards, our mission. We are grateful for her generous time and energy, and we are pleased to grant her the scholarship for 2020.
